Top Chill Spots in Miami Design District

When you have lived in Miami long enough, you discover more than beaches and nightclubs. There are chill neighborhoods that make this city great to be part of like the Miami Design District. While I can’t go on a spree at any of the designer shops, I can still enjoy nom-worthy treats around the block.

This pop-up café is the perfect spot to hang out for a late afternoon lunch. I have enjoyed their baked goods with an espresso on a recent visit. Food is made in-house and served fresh. Best of all, you can grab something on the go if you are rushed. A favorite on the menu is the wild smoked salmon sandwich with red onion, heirloom tomato and capers.

OTL

Clean space and incredible food is what OTL is all about. The inside is inviting you to bring all your friends and hangout with good coffee in one hand (or a mimosa) and a seed butter toast in the other. Their homemade cookies and pastries may also bring boys to the yard. I recently tried (possibly devoured) their guava muffin. OTL also turns up the café concept by adding spirited drinks to the menu.

Find this bakery inside the atrium of the Melin Building. It is something between country and chic, but we love it. Get cozy with a gooey grilled cheese or just sip on a cappuccino. Here you can enjoy simple and delicious food while people watching. And, with a changing menu, you can always treat yourself to something new.

The Photo-Op

Besides all the yummy food, the Miami Design District has some beautiful backdrops aka selfie for days! From the vibrant orange columns at Fendi to the blue glass walls at Jaeger-LeCoultre, don’t be surprised if you walk into a photo shoot. There is also a beautiful jungle mural of the south Florida landscape, and the Buckminster Fuller Fly’s Eye Dome in the center of the shops. My favorite and newest discovery is the metal swings on the second floor of courtyard. Find me hanging here any day.

Shop Jord

Want to shop my look? I am wearing the Zebrawood & Navy watch from their Frankie series. It fits my lifestyle because it is minimal and super lightweight. This is the first watch I have worn in two years and I’m obsessed. The blue face is also my favorite. Shop for women here and find some for your guy over here.
